Pageants aren't really my thing but..

Vanessa williams was crowned Miss America 1984 on September 17, 1983 making her the first-ever African American Miss America. They found naked pics of her and then uncrowned her. i believe that the tolerance of america has really lowered. now you can do anything and still be famous. Tara Conner, Former Miss America, is a druggie addict and she STILL is miss america and is going to take the crown from the current miss america, rachel smith. i do not think this is fair. :/

OK, Just to clear some things up. First of all, these are two separate organizations you're talking about. Vanessa Williams was a Miss America. Tara Conner and Rachel Smith were both Miss USA. Miss USA is part of the Miss Universe system, Miss America is not. Miss America does not go on to compete for Miss Universe. The two titles are not related at all. Because of this separation, the queens in each system are held to different standards. Had Tara Conner been part of the Miss America system, she would have lost her crown.

Rachel Smith was crowned Miss USA after Tara Conner so Tara is not taking the crown from Rachel. Rachel had her year long reign and recently passed the Miss USA crown to Miss Texas USA, Chrystle Stewart, a gorgeous, well-spoken, and talented African American woman.



The current Miss America is Kirsten Haglund, who competed as Miss Michigan.
