Pahente looks the safest option in Dormans Park Handicap at Lingfield
Chasin´ Rainbows holds entry for Thursday’s Dormans Park Handicap, but she is doubtful to run on Lingfield’s good to firm track. In her absence, Pahente looks to have the best chance of dominating the proceedings in the class 6 meeting, to be started at
15:00 GMT.
The Tony Carroll-trained won with plenty in hand here last week. He came to this venue after suffering an awful loss at Chepstow. An embarrassing defeat would have dented his confidence to some extent, but the dashing runner kept things under control.
In the hands of Michael O'Connell, the Mayden Stud-owned took keen hold early on, and tracked the leading trio. He went second halfway and with the help of an excellent effort, the son of Silver Patriarch led over 4f out. He kept running well in the final
stages, and secured the first rank by 2¾ lengths.
The conditions are almost same and therefore, one can easily expect him to come up with an equally good show this time around.
Out of others, Blue Zealot looks to be the strongest one. The 5-year-old is coming off a fine performance at Bath. After a long vacation of almost eight months, Anthony Honeyball’s charge returned to action with a huge bang.
In the class 6 Brandon Trust Great Western Bike Ride Handicap, she found only Bute Street too good. She narrowly missed the crown, and did well to seize the runner-up spot.
Red Willow knows this track very well. The 6-year-old was third in her both races here last season. Trained by John E. Long, the mare is making her comeback after a long break, and will be fresh and full of energy. She, however, needs a slice of luck to
create an upset.
Royal Defence likes some cut in the ground, which is not available here. So, a few others seem to have better prospects today.
Lingfield’s hard surface is a massive plus for Pahente, who likes such conditions. He handled this ground quite nicely last time, and there is no reason why he should not display a bold show today. Blue Zealot is the main threat. Good luck to all the runners.
