I just had my eye exam and I needed glass for distance only (not full time) and I paid $325 dollars.

What do they charge eyeglasses for? Based on what? Frames? Lenses?

  1. What brand are they? They probably sold you an expensive brand name. There are cheaper brands, so yeah you probably got ripped off. That seems like a lot.

  2. Depends what you got. Frames can get expensive depending on the brand. Lenses can cost over $325 alone. The glasses I'm wearing now have FeatherWeights Complete lenses which have the best options so they cost me $250. They are really light and have no reflection. My frames were $320. All together $570 for one pair. I got them at Lenscrafters.

  3. Lenses have a cost attached to them, but it's usually the frames that get you.  Different frames cost different amounts...  But if you got single vision lenses in a metal frame with any features such as anti-glare and/or scratch resistance, $325 isn't a bad deal.  My glasses cost over $500..

  4. depends, did u get designer frames, were the lenses transition lenses or polycarbonate lenses? oakley frames alone cost about $250 plus.

  5. Go to Sears or Costgo or even Walmart. You will pay much less.

  6. I wanted to make a camera, so I asked in the ware house how much for a regular Zeiss lens, for eyeglasses. They told me $6 each. The mark-up must be what a Republican dreams of.

  7. Unless you bought, like, Guess, glasses or some other name brand, yes, you definately got ripped off.

You usually get charged separately for the exam, frame, and lenses.
