Paige Hare, Laurina McGrath, Sarah Mason and Malia Manuel storm in round two: Asp 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro France – Day 2
Day two of the 2011 Asp 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro France got off to a stunning start with aggressive performances from Paige Hareb, Laurina McGrath, Sarah Mason, Brittani Nicholl, Dimity Stoyle and Malia Manuel in heat 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 respectively at Les Bourdaines
in France, on Thursday, June 2.
In the first heat of round two, Paige Hareb of New Zealand claimed the highest heat score of 10.55 (out of 20), whereas Georgia Fish of Australia settled for second place with a total score of 8.95. The bottom two positions were taken by Kaleigh Gilchrist
of USA with 7.40 points, and Ukrainian surfer Lore Eizaguirre, who had a horrible day at the sea. Eizaguirre could only manage an embarrassing 2.35 points from her stint.
In heat 2, Laurina McGrath of Australia led with 8.05 points, while Wini Paul of New Zealand took second spot with total score of 7.20 and Tanika Hoffman (ZAF) finished third with 7.00 points. The Portuguese surfer, Keshia Seelow Eyre claimed 3.85 points
and will no longer be a part of the competition.
Heat 3 of round 2 was captured by the surfer from New Zealand, Sarah Mason, who gave an outstanding performance to earn 14.00 points out of 20. Carina Duarte of Portugal earned second place honours with a total score of 9.55, while Barbara Segatto of Brazil
and Sarah Mason’s teammate Rosa Thompson finished third and fourth with a total score of 5.85 and 3.20 respectively.
In heat 4, the Australian surfer, Brittani Nicholl edged through to round 3 of the Swatch Girls Pro by capturing 11.75 points. Marie Dejean of France clinched second spot with a total score of 11.50, while Wes Noble of Great Britain scored only 0.80 in the
heat.
Dimity Stoyle of Australia earned the top spot in heat 5 of round 2 with 13.25 points. Meanwhile, Maria Abecasis of Portugal and Estitxu Estremo were placed third and fourth in the heat with a total score of 8.00 and 5.40.
In the final heat of the day, Hawaiian surfer Malia Manuel took the highest heat score of 15.15 points to lead heat 6. Meanwhile, French surfer, Maud Le Car came second with a total score of 10.10. Faye Zoetmulder (ZAF) wound up third with a score of 8.20
and Meah Collins of USA finished fourth with 5.85 points.
The top two surfers out of each heat of round 2 will compete in round 3 of the Asp 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro France at Les Bourdaines on Friday, June 3 and the bottom two will be eliminated from the competition.
