Question:

Pain in buttock after Contraceptive injection?

I had my Daughter in August & in October I started having the Depo injection (contraceptive jab). My first jab was put into the muscle in my right buttock and it REALLY hurt, it hurt to walk or bend and I couldn't sit on it for 2 days (the subsequent 3 were fine & I barely felt them). Tonight I have awful pain in the exact spot I had the original jab. I have had pain on & off since & was sent for Physio (???) but (obviously) that didn't help. Can anyone help with an idea as to what it may be or why?

I hope so as it's a little worrying and quite annoying.

  1. I really hope nobody gets their next shot until reading reviews about people who were on it:

Many women suffer some very serious side affects and health issues because of this.  I was on this for some time and I would never ever recommend it to anyone.

The nurse may have injected it wrong and hit a nerve.  See a doctor if this is still bothering you and be persistent to get it resolved.

  2. I have had this happen before because of other kinds of injections in the past (and not just in the buttock area).  The reason it occurred is because of the medicine being like in a lump right under the area where the injection occurred.  Something I learned from my grandma (she was an RN) was that after I get an injection to massage the area.

Massaging the area helps to keep it from lumping all in one area and also helps to distribute the medicine in to other parts of the body.

I would also recommend letting the doctor know that the physical therapy didn't help and that you want to let them know you are still having problems in the area where the injection was given.
