along with all this other c**p in my life... something else has to afflict me. earlier today, about 2 hours after I woke up, I was sitting at the PC, and my right side of my groin (between my inner thigh and v****a) started a dull pain. I thought it was some random body ache. but as the day progressed, the pain worsened. now, I cant sleep. it also feels like the pain is migration down farther into my thigh. I don't play sports, I am a stay at home mom.. I don't lift crazy heavy things, and did nothing out of the ordinary. the pain is now more intense, feels hot, and kind of like a burning sensation, its constant. actually feels better when I stand. It doesn't feel swollen, to me... I know you have lymph nodes there, and ca get a hernia there.. but I want doing anything! this has lasted all day. My husband is ill, and isnt here to help me or comfort me. and with all thats going on... now I am a bit paranoid, that it could be something more serious... any comments would be greatly appreciated.

  1. A groin pull is an injury to the muscles of the inner thigh. The groin muscles, called the "adductor muscle" group, consists of six muscles that span the distance from the inner pelvis to the inner part of the femur (thigh bone). These muscles pull the legs together, and also help with other movements of the hip joint. The adductor muscles are important to many types of athletes including sprinters, swimmers, soccer players, and football players.

What happens to the muscle with a groin pull?

A groin pull is an injury to the adductor muscles called a muscle strain. When a muscle is strained, the muscle is stretched too far. Less severe strains pull the muscle beyond their normal excursion. More severe strains tear the muscle fibers, and can even cause a complete tear of the muscle. Most commonly, groin pulls are minor tears of some muscle fibers, but the bulk of the muscle tissue remains intact.

What are the symptoms of a groin pull?

An acute groin pull can be quite painful, depending on the severity of the injury. Groin pulls are usually graded as follows:

Grade I Groin Strain: Mild discomfort, often no disability. Usually does not limit activity.

Grade II Groin Strain: Moderate discomfort, can limit ability to perform activities such as running and jumping. May have moderate swelling and bruising associated.

Grade III Groin Strain: Severe injury that can cause pain with walking. Often patients complain of muscle spasm, swelling, and significant bruising.

I did mine when I crouch down to go under a electric fence and boy was it sore. My Doctor told me it was a typical Football injury and I told him I do not play football! It was a good week before I could walk on it and even now I still get the odd twinge. Best of Luck

  2. it is very probably nothing and just one of those random pains that will go as suddenly as it appeared but to be on the safe side go on to the nhs website and you can email them with the symptom and they will give you proper advise hope you feel better soon

  3. if you sit at the computer a lot it could be a really tight hip flexor. When you have a lot going on in your life your body is more likely to act up on you. YOu could start by stretching. It is very hard to explain how to stretch your illiopsoas muscle but if you look it up online i am sure you can find pictures somewhere...try stretching that and your hip adductors as well and see if that helps..  the burning sensation can also mean that you have a pinched nerve, what people call sciatica often. Stretching and massage can help this as well. Does your low back hurt or feel tense as well? I highly recommend yoga and chiropractic also....and anything to help reduce stress in your life...
