Pain in my Shins/feet!?

So here is the thing. Im getting ready for soccer coming up and the fall and ive started running again. But when I run I have pain in either my lower shins, or the bottom of my feet.

I have seem a Podiatrist who knows what kind of running im doing and he got a orthotic insert for both my shoes. Which should of helped because I had "over pronating feet". BUT i also have weak ankles, which i think might contribute to the pain. So I have two ankle braces to help with that support.

If I wear just the insert. I have pain in my shins.

If I wear the insert and the ankle brace, i have pain in my feet!

The pain starts after about half a mile of running, and by the time I am at a mile its pretty bad. By the time two miles rolls around my feet are tingling and numb, or my outside shins are rock hard(feels like shin splints?)

Im taking time to rest, i have proper footwear, im stretching well before and after

I Dont know what to do. Can some people just not run?

  1. you might be lacing your ankle braces wrong.  they should only be tight at the joint [thats the most important part] and look before that part; after that part should be moderate.

if you run, shin splints will get you sooner or later; its pretty much inevitable.  you can apply a lot of pressure to the area [although it hurts, it will feel SOOOO good afterwards] to subside the pain.  shin splints will get to you quicker if you run on dirt or cement, but grass would hurt a little later.

  2. Well you might have shins splints. Try soaking your legs in hot water or ask your doctor.
