i have this pain in my upper back, if you go from the top of the back where the spinal cord really sticks out and you go down an inch and over 2 or 3 inches or the back of my shoulder (not the shoulder blade) i have a piercing pain. for the last 3 years i've had this pain on and off really bad. the last 2 weeks i really noticed it, i'm using an icy hot patch but it only worked for 2 hours, it smells bad too. i told my doctor when i went for my physical he said it was nothing, my parents said it could be a pinched nerve. someone help, i have no idea what could be wrong

  1. I've had the same problem for 5 yrs. Mine is due to chronic muscle spasms.  3 years is to long. Ask your Dr. for a second opinion. If he gets upset about it, then find another Dr. It could be a simple fix or something more serious. There is help out there.

  2. Could be a tight muscle. Go for a massage and see if that helps. If your doctor doesn't know then get a secomd opinion.

  3. Get a message and if nothing helps then ask your doctor, it maybe that you have a lot of stress.
