Question:

Pain in the left side of my jaw..?

about 3 days ago i woke up with pain on the left side of my jaw. it feels like it is from the joint. it has continued to reappear, and always occurs during/after sleeping, but it does not seem to matter what side i sleep on. it continues to get worse, so i'm wondering if anyone knows what it could be. one possible explanation i thought of was a wisdom tooth trying to come in because i went to the dentist about a month ago and he told me that the bottom wisdom teeth are "impounded" which i think means they are pushing into my back molars. could this be the cause of the pain or is it something else?

  1. There are a lot of factors that can contribute to the kind of pain you have just described. In most cases an "IMPACTED" 3rd molar pressing on the mandibular nerve/adjacent tooth or a carious/decayed molar with dental abscess would likely cause that kind of pain. I would suggest to have a panoramic x-ray taken so that the dentist would have a diagnostic tool to assess your condition. If you have an "IMPACTED" 3rd Molar causing the pain have it removed ASAP. It could lead to further complications if you leave it untreated.
