Hey I'm 16 and had surgery about 3 days ago on my chest to remove cartilage bump. Now my surgeon subscribed pain killer pills for me and it says take 1-2 every 4 hours but i took it like 2 every day instead because I can handle the pain. Ok so the main thing is ... I took it today and i feel sooooo good ... like feel so relaxed and nice. It's a dizzy/drowsy feeling but it's a really good feeling lol, is this normal ... is it like ok or will it one day make me addictive to these pills?

  1. yes it is normal, yes it is okay every once in a while, and it (along with physical addiction and tolerance) is what gets people addicted.

    be careful with opiates.

  2. Take these pills as prescribed only because pain pills are very addictive.

  3. Pain pills are very addictive believe me.  They are not fun to come off of when you run out, if you don't need as often as prescribed then better off only taking when needed.  I have family members who fed them to me so I would enjoy their company and now i am paying the price.

  4. Yes, this is the feeling that comes with taking narcotics. Yes, it's easy to become addicted.

  5. That 'really good' feeling is why some people can and do get addicted to painkillers.

If you take them in the prescribed dose when you're feeling pain that is not a problem.  If you have an addictive personality and find yourself craving them when you don't need them for pain, it's time to get rid of them.

You could just send them to me, I'll know what to do with them...(just Kiddddding:)
