I've been getting migrains really really bad lately, I did have a rx for fiorinal but now my Doctor doesnt want to perscribe it. Even though it helped! And my nurologist doesnt want to either! Insted he wants me to try all these other medications that dont even touch it! I've tried Topamax and imitrex and they dont work! Im about ready to go to a pain management clinic. What am I suppose to do when I get a horrible migrain for four days and the only thing that works is a narcotic and they wont perscribe any???? Can anyone help me? I need to know if there's any nurologists in the seattlea area that arnt sooooo afraid to perscribe medications to someone who really needs it. UGHH its so frustrating!!!!

  1. See a pain specialist. There are other alternatives than narcotics to try. They can try injections such as an Occipital nerve block.(Google it!) If that does not help they are more likely to give you a narcotic than a Primary Care Physician.

  2. Reducing your sugar intake might perhaps help as sugar can cause migraines.  Sweet foods such as desserts, ice cream, chocolate, cakes, cookies and biscuits are loaded with sugar.  See item 71 in http://rheumatic.org/sugar.htm .

  3. Sounds like your another victim of the war on drugs.  I'm so sorry your doctors won't prescribe what works for you.  I don't understand it, myself (I'm no doctor). Do they think you're abusing the medicine in any way?  Even if you are, you still have to use something that works for you.

If not, I'd definitely go to a pain clinic in your area.  You have to get some relief.  Try the American Academy of Pain Management.
