Painkillers can give you a horrbile stomach ache?

I recently had a tooth removed at the dentist's office, and he gave me a prescription for a painkiller. (It's this little white thing with a "N" on it).

So, I took it 3 times a day every 6 hours for the first day.

The next day after taking the painkillers for a full 3 times a day,

I started to get horrible, and I mean HORRIBLE stomach pains.

Does anyone know why the painkillers would do this?

And has it happened to anyone before?

  1. Well....it could be a side affect from  the pain killer that you were prescribed. Try taking the medication when you have a full stomach.

You know....eat a little something before you take it again. If you still have problems, then go back to the pharmacy & see if they can help you. Best of luck to ya!

  2. Yeah, I broke my hip and had to get pins put in it, and some of the pain meds, like Tylenol with Codeine would upset my stomach. Are you eating beforehand? Some medicines, when taken on an empty stomach, give you a stomachache. So maybe try eating something before you take it, maybe some pudding or soft foods if you can.

  3. yES.

  4. go to walgreens and buy prilosec.  it coats your stomach and will make it much easy to tolerate the pain meds.
