I painted one of the rooms in my house only to find out that after painting that the paint smells like mildew. My question is will the smell go away on it's own if I burn incense or should I just repaint?

  1. If the room didn't smell prior to painting , you might just need to let the room air out. Was the paint old ? It is possible for old latex paint to develop that smell.

  2. Never have heard of that before.  Did you try opening the windows and letting it air out?

  3. Did your room or wall smell like mildew before you painted it? If so, then you need to seal the wall with a stain/odor blocking primer like: Kilz Original (oil base) or Zinnesser 1-2-3 (water base) and then paint it with a good quality paint

  4. Cut up two lemons and place them about the room, the smell should soon vanish into thin air.....................

  5. Paint it first with KILZ. This is a mildew remediation paint that's available in all hardware stores. Then paint your room color over the KILZ.
