Question:

Paint designs on a teenagers room that go with the carpet help

My daughter's moving into her older brother's room which is about twice as big. He has blue carpet, it's shaggy and has a few shades of blue (navy and then lighter shades) and some white in it, that we put in a few years ago so I told her she has to use that carpet. We found a duvet that is a light lime green and white. Link below..it looks much more chic in person.

But we're having trouble with the walls. We don't want like lime green all over that will look too busy and possibly clash with the carpet, we don't know what designs to do. She wants lime green on the walls, but I don't want it to be busy and clash. Help!

  1. hmmmm...one REALLY cute look is stripes

pick one or two walls to be striped

the stripes should be big and can be smaller in the middle, bigger out

maybe one stripe color can be really super light green and the other navy

and then other walls can be the super light green, plain, or textured looks really good

i hope you find something you like!!

    and btw- love the beadspread

  2. white will definitley go with both, but that would be a little boring.

maybe you could do dots of green on the wall with a white background so the green isn't overpowering

  3. as an 18 year old girl, i think i could be somewhat helpful with this. pick out one of the shades of blue from the carpet, preferably a light one. take that to the local hardware store, or wherever you're going to get paint from, and match up a few shades of green with it, use the light blue as the main color, but get a quart or so of the green you decide upon and  use it to paint polka dots, stripes, or the woodwork/window sills in the room. any other colors can work too. whatever your daughter likes the best.

  4. I have a friend whose daughter wanted bright purple walls! They compromised my painting the top white and the bottom of the walls the purple she wanted. Then they added a thin strip of white molding around the room where the white and purple met. Hope this helps.
