Paint in reptile tank?

Question

im putting together my future snake enclosure(exo terra glass terrarium)....and im putting perches in their made out of pvc pipe..and then to hold those up ive got 2 end caps.....can i paint the end caps??? once they dry n all that will it be ok to put them in their??the snake wont get in contact with the caps so will it b ok?
