  1. I work for Boeing.  The paint on a 767 weighs about 400 pounds when dry.

  2. It is hard to give exact examples of the weight that paint adds to an aircraft. When it comes to a typical airliner, it is in the hundreds of pounds. If you look at the paint scheme of many airlines, you will notice that silver is a common component. This  is not just an aesthetic choice. By leaving the bare aluminum showing, aircraft weight can be reduced enough to create a noticeable cost savings due to reduced fuel burn.

As far as smaller general aviation aircraft, the weight is a negligible factor in the aircraft design, however it still must be factored in when creating the weight and balance figures for the aircraft.

  3. When you paint a plane it will add alot of weight to the plane but it does depend on how big and how much paint you use

  4. C-130 when painted adds about 300 - 400 pounds dry weight.

  5. A lot. Indeed for large commercial aircraft (747) it is hundreds of pounds.

American Airlines has stated in its publication that one of the reasons it does not pint its aircraft is the associated fuel savings...
