Paint on birds toe nails?

HELP ME!!! we have a cocateil (bird) that is almost 20 years old and i did something stupid and i painted 3 of his nails. i know its toxic and i got some of the paint off but i don't know what to do!!! im afraid im gonna kill him and he is my dads bird! can someone help me!!

  1. Try some very fine sandpaper.


  2. I would reccomend you keep washing its feet but do not use any thing with any type of strong smell or fumes as that will kill it. eg. nail polish remover just in case you didnt know

  3. DONT WORRY if it bits it off it will puck they can handle that

  4. Yeah that's really toxic for birds.  They can't be around any chemicals ever.  You should probably take it to the vet and see if they can remove it.  That's your best bet.  Good luck!

  5. Kudos for using nail polish even though you knew it was toxic.

    Anyways, when it's dry, use a new nail file and try to get it off.

  6. Unless he starts pecking at it, it's probably safe to leave it on because its dry. You could try to remove it with some very fine sandpaper.

  7. I don't think you can do anything, just wait and see how he is. I highly doubt that you can make him throw up so he can get the toxic out! Good luck!
