I like texture coat.  It has a better looking finish and the color will not start to peel off the side of your house like paint.  There is a small problem where the texture coat will peel off towards the ground of the home, but that is easy to hit up with some paint.  The texture coat on this house has been here 20+ years in the blazing sun with no problems yet.  I don't think a paint could have held up as long.
