Paint scheme with red white and blue?

my living room is small, i have lite colored paneling on the bottom of my living room walls, i want to paint the top half of my walls using the colors red white and blue. how do you suggest that i do it?

  1. I would suggest using white on the walls, blue on the trim around windows, etc.  Then paint the front door red. You can always add art prints or other decorating items to dress up the white walls.


  2. Paint them in stripes parallel to each other.  That would look really nice in a small room.  Maybe like the French flag. ;)

  3. A more homey version of that combination would be: linen, brick red, and navy blue. It will look more timeless and less holiday-ish.  The linen walls with the other colors as trim would be okay, but I would use the other color in the decorations to not be as tied into the scheme & still be able to make the impression.
