I'm probably getting an SLG and I wanna know: People are talking about when I do get an SLG I should replace the barrel So I'm wondering all I'll be doing is playing in an old abandoned warehouse its not huge but its enough , yeah we are aloud to play in there. Just incase anybody says otherwise. How much would it cost to buy the SLG and replace the barrel and buy about 2000 paintballs? Thanks.

  1. A SLG is about 200 and a good barrel is about 60 give or take, 2000 balls can range about 30 to 60 dollars.

IMO the barrel is not what i need to worry about, its ok, the feedneck is god awful and the trigger and backcap suck too. So i would get a barrel after the feedneck, trigger, backcap.

  2. The barrel just improves accuracy and to prevent ball drops from bores that are too big. If you want to just use the stock barrel, just use larger paintballs like the Proto paintballs. Proto's paintballs are made by Toxic (if i remember correctly) but Proto has a brighter fill. Toxic paintballs have an ugly yellow color. If you are a beginner, a Proto barrel would be fine, but if you're willing to spend more, get a Smart Parts Freak Jr. or Freak kit. A case of 2000 paintballs can range anywhere from $15 a case to $50-$60 a case. The Proto balls are about $40-$50. personally, i like to use Evil brand paint for speedball cause it pops easily on impact. For example, you don't need "direct contact" for it to pop. However Evil paint is about $60 a case.

  3. Well, I have never personally used an SLG, but in my opinion, one should take the gun out to the field and actually play with it before buying any after market upgrade. Why? After having played with the marker enough you will soon come to see the difference between buying things that are "needed" and things that are simply "wanted." So you might go out to the field thinking that you're going to need a new barrel for the marker, and end up realizing that the stock one is perfectly fine. Then, you end up with extra money that you would've spent on a barrel that you didn't really need that you could use towards actually playing. See my point?

As for paintballs, a case(2000) of reasonable quality paint at a reasonable price usually goes for anywhere from 30-40 bucks, or even more, depending on the brand and quality. I suggest that you avoid buying paintballs online, since they sometimes end up being damaged during the delivery process(and the company you bought them from probably won't refund your money or replace the product), and especially avoid buying paint at Wal Mart, Target, Big 5, ect. Go to your local paintball shop and talk to a sales person and ask them what they recommend. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help you out.
