  1. Have you done any research under "Parade Horses" or "Equine Art"?  On the race track, we used to shave the horses with designs in their coats.  It looks awesome.  I haven't seen painted horses since the 1970's.  Water colors & chalks won't hurt a horse, as this type of paint easily washes off with water & a little soap.  I have seen horses disguised with hair dye & shoe polish on the race track in an effort to conceal them from their owners by greedy trainers & loan sharks!  These things DO happen to race horses & most people don't want to talk about it because it is so illegal & unethical!  If it were me, I'd want to paint a mural on the side of my horse & make it look like a piece of art!  An Indy 500 race car, perhaps?  Or paid advertising from a sponsor would be cool...you could paint their store name or LOGO on your horse.

  2. PAINTING A HORSE?  you mean like with REAL PAINT???   How cruel that would be for the HORSE!!!!!!!!!   YOU risk making the horse sick or poisoned if you use paint on a horse..... I'd ask a vet how safe it is first... I live in Saratoga Springs NY ---where racing is a  BIG BIG business and the ONLY horses I have EVER seen in my ENTIRE LIFE that were painted are the horse STATUES that line the sidewalks of Saratoga in the summer to wellcome the horse racing season back.

  3. If want to paint your horse get" horse safe paint" from like Dover or somewhere like that. Any other paint would make your horse very ill, and even close enough to killing your horse depending on the paint.

And if you order the stuff from Dover they also have stencils and stuff like that

I use poster paint  on mine for costume classes and Parade days. It washes off nice and cost just a few pennies. Start with a clean washed but not conditioned hair coat. Make a template on newspaper or butcher paper. Draw your design with your outline color, and use a different brush for each shade.White glue holds on glitter and objects rather well. Avoid all shine sprays that contain silicone!!( design slides off) IE show sheen. You wont find horse paints at a shop or online store.

PIX :I rather thought Tiger and Rainbow were very nice..though T-Rex was cool too.

I try to avoid the "Pet Horses" category: getting "advice" from a fish expert  or casual horsie pals is awful, and they write so many paragraphs! Have fun!
