  1. You need a high quality roller cover.  Additionally, if you are pressing too hard when you roll, you are pushing paint from the roller out to the edges, which leaves a heavier stripe of paint.  Apply less pressure, and paint both up and down, and on diagonals--this will help assure better coverage and should reduce your roller marks.

  2. Not enough paint on the roller?  Going up & down only?  You do need to go different directions to even out the paint.  Hopefully a second coat will take care of it.

  3. The key to no roller marks is a really good quality roller.  And not cheap.  It's especially noticeable in a darker paint.  Unfortunately, most of us have found this out the hard way!

  4. bet you didnt put on a primer coat on the sheetrock first.  do it now and then paint with some good quality paint and rollers.
