Painting a Picnic Table?

I want to paint my picnic table, it's old and needs some sprucing up. I want to paint it with a high gloss outdoor paint? Is there such a thing? Or should I paint it with outdoor paint, and then put a coat of clear sealer over that? It has to be outdoor paint.

  1. i would put a primer on it first and then paint with outdoor paint and seal with a high gloss sealer. good luck =)...

  2. Absolutely .You probably want to give it a good sanding first and then use a good outdoor flat paint.Oil base if you dont mind working with an oil based product. Its just a little bit more to clean up & probably is gonna cost a few more dollars for the paint. Then use a clear enamal  spray over that to give it the high shine you want.Make sure the clearcoat is meant to go over paint and not stain.

  3. there is some paints out there that say it is for both outdoor and indoor just make sure that it sais out door because weather can cause wear and tear to the paint. and add a gloss and a sealer to add a protective coating
