Painting a ceiling the same as the walls?

Question

I am thinking of doing a half bath with the walls and ceiling both a light beige. Any opinions on how this may look? The bottom half is dark chocolate brown.

I did this in my own small bathroom. I love the way it looks with no separation between the walls & the ceiling.

Smaller spaces look best with the ceiling and walls painted the same color because you're not drawing your eye toward a specific cut-off line at the ceiling.  It feels more spacious all one color, if that makes any sense.

My husband is a pro painter and that would drive him bananas.

He would say use ceiling white...

You will think I am nuts, but I have rooms that have the ceiling painted the dark color and they are outstanding.

I feel that painting the ceiling in white or another lighter color related to the one your using for the walls makes it look larger

Yum on your colors. There is no rule that says you can't do this. The bottom 1/2 shouldn't be exactly the 1/2 point up the wall - this would make it feel choppy. Think 3rds - 1/3 from the floor, 1/3rd from the top. Soften it with your accents, towel bar/ring, etc. Good luck LT

I think this sounds lovely.

I once painted a smaller sized bathroom in a deep burgundy color and, due to the uneven wall/ceiling line, I was forced to paint the ceiling the same color...  It was FABULOUS!!  

When you say "the bottom half" are you referring to the floor, tile or...?

you may want to think of actually painting the ceiling the darker color - a very bold statement but tremendously warming and quite a talking point with guests - think outside the box!!  Just add a lot of light accent pieces - soap dish, towels etc.,

I recommend doing the ceiling in a lighter color to draw the eye upward and make it feel taller. Painting it the same as the walls will give it a more "boxed-in" feel.
