Painting a house question?

Question

I am about to paint my house and i want to add feature walls in the bedrooms.

Should i not do this? Everyone thinks i'm nuts, I was going to put a diferent colour in each room not i am thinking just the one colour freature wall in each room - ie: light green or a yellow.

Any thoughts?

There is nothing wrong with that. Just make sure that it ties into your decor. If the rooms are near by each other, it may be a great idea to ties the colors of the feature walls to each other in some way by grouping (pastels, dark naturals, light naturals, etc.)

If I am reading your question correctly, it sounds like you are thinking of painting each bedroom a different color and having a feature wall in each room.

My only suggestion would be to stay within 3 or 4 shades of the main color for the feature wall.  This will keep it more subtle than painting the feature wall a totally different color and will remain fresh looking for a longer time.

Just keep in mind, you have to like the end result, so go with what is pleasing to you.

light colors like light green and yellow will definitely open up a room and make it feel airy, big, and open. But as a feature wall I don't think they will do good. Because your other walls might be darker than the feature wall and then that will take purpose away from the feature wall because it will no longer stand out. But maybe light green on three of the walls and a darker color on the feature wall!

Usually with a Feature wall - it is THE feature. With multiple Feature walls, it's not so much a FEATURE anymore. Does that make sense?A Feature wall takes your eye to that wall first because you are showcasing that area. In your case, it sounds like your Feature wall will be the head of the bed wall - showcasing a headboard or artwork. Any more than the one wall and it will become too busy. A feature wall can be any color you want it to be - dark, light or inbetween. Good luck. LT
