Question:

Painting a wall with primer does the wall need to look perfect before I start painting?

I have a spot on wall that the primer doesn't seem to cover very well. I sanded it lightly and put a second coat of primer but it still looks different, and you can see area on wall. Do I need to try something else before adding topcat or will it be fine?

  1. try a coat of stainkiller on the patches.

a quart of ' zinnsser' stain killer ,

they also have it in a spray can, spray / paint the spot.

when it dries in an hour you are all set to go.

  2. It should be fine, the primer is just a base, after appling the finish coats you won't see it.

  3. Sometimes you have to put a coat of varnish over a spot before you use primer.  Some things bleed through everything.

    Good Luck!

  4. If you are talking about simply color it should work. If the texture is different you will have a hard time covering it up.

  5. Nope....use Killz brand primer it works best

  6. no,take your roller full of finish paint and roll over the spot, let it dry, very well!then apply 2 coats of finish to tyhe whole wall.if working with eggshell, cut in each wall and roll as you cut in.hope this helps!
