Depends on your color scheme in the bedroom and if you are trying to coordinate. Darker colors in a small room can work if they are chosen carefully. We have a small bath that is burgundy, it was that color when we got the home, and the right accessories make it look rich not small. Many people are happy with calming yellows or blues in the bath. My daughter is using light shades of brown in her homes bath (currently decorating her first home).

If it's small, keep the colors light. Dark walls will only make the room look smaller. Try off whites, light yellows, etc.
