  1. How about cheese yellow or linen white for the walls.

How big is your carpet? If it is very big and can fill a large part of the room, a red one will be ideal. Red mix well with wood color of your furniture. The carpet must be big enough to accommodate all the furniture of the sitting room.

You can put some plants to the sitting room to add some green to it. And a bar counter beside the sitting room where you put all the expensive liquor and brandy.

Put a small lamp on the wall above the bar counter.

  2. something greeny would look nice...

  3. I found that it's easy to work out a colour as a contrast or compliment if you work with what you have ..... if you go to a decorating store you will find colour charts ..... look at those that have you couch colour .... look at the range of colours in that shade (compliment) ... does one of them work for you?  How about looking at a completely different colour - as a contrast ... look at the range of that colour .... see what grabs your fancy .... next think of the things you have or would get to go with either of those colours .... generally I would advise highlighting the lighter colour - otherwise the room becomes 'heavy' with the one dark colour .... for instance my suite is a mustard/gold colour on the arms backs and seats, the base colour is like your wine/brown .... my walls are a soft cream/peach colour and I have a wall rug that picks all three colours out with a dash of black ..... all my decor revolves around these colours in this room - including my cushions! ... I have had many compliments!  Try it and see what works for you!.....

  4. Paint them cheese colour. That goes nice with wine. ;¬)

  5. get some color charts from a DIY store you can buy small sample pots to test out colors as well. if in doubt keep it neutral for now, use whites/creams etc you can always paint in a feature wall at a later date if you find a color you like or can do a feature wall with a nice wallpaper. I used to be a painter and decorator by the way ;-)

  6. Taupe looks real good, you can choose from different shades to coordinate with your furniture.

  7. Paint them a bright yellow. Yellow is some-what neutral and goes with practically anything. It's warm to so when you walk in the room, you feel warm (cheesy but true).
