Painting my bike?

what are some tips and do i have to sand it down its not rusty and if i get paint on the chain will it get messed up plzz give me all the tips and other thing dont ask me to take it to a auto shop

after you paint it, u ever leave it out in the rain oil it the next day so it wont rust.

remove all the components and sand it down. you have to prep any surface before you paint it, particularly metal. sand, prime paint, finish coat, reassemble the bike, ride.

It's best to take all the components off and just have the frame. If that isn't possible, then tape off anything you do not want painted. Spend time prepping the bike. It would be best to sand down to bare metal and prime it. Get yourself some good quality paint, not some cheap walmart brand. Enamel will work great. You could go to an auto store and pick up some spray paint (dupli-color). Some have flecks in the paint, depending on the car, make, model. Spray lightly with several coats. Use clearcoat to protect it.
