Painting my bikes frame. (dirt bike)?

i've painted it once in this fashion already, the paint holds up very well, so the paint isn't a problem at all...

ok, well just know i cannot afford to have it done professionally, so lets skip those response out front.

is there any tips to get the best possible results from spray paint? the last time came out ok, it isn't the best of course, but i'd like to redo it with even less flaws...

i took the bike apart, sanded everything down and i was painting outside on a cloudy day (it was pretty windy tho, i'm betting that's why it didn't come out as good as it could have)

what would be the 'correct way' to paint your bike this way?

Also in addition to shaking the can every 30 sec.  Spray from one side to the other about 24 inches then stop, go back and then spray again. What I mean is DONT just hold down the button and spray back and forth continually left,right,left right.  You will get fewer runs and imperfections that way. Hope this helps.

P.S. Another thing you may want to do is spray on a lite coat of paint, let it dry till its just a little tacky(not too dry) and then add another coat, do this about 3 or so times, this should make your paint smooth and even.

P.S.S. If your not already doing this? After you have sanded the bike be sure to wash and thoroughly dry it ,or wipe it down with a damp cloth and dry, then use a primer, you will probably want to let the primer dry completely before painting, then once the bike is painted let it dry (in the sun if possible) for like three days before you put it back together.

Along with shaking the can - hold the top of the can and rotate the bottom of the can like a "hoola-hoop".

The thickest parts of the paint accumulate in the outer groove at the bottom of the can.

Rotating the can in that fashion, spins the ball around that groove.

Make sure you shake the can every 30 seconds or so and when it starts getting low just get another can. It will look a lot better if you do those 2 things.
