me and hubby did some renos and had the awful idea of using grey grout for wall tiles in the bathroom. We hate it and, as we want to sell our house soon, we want to get rid of the grey grout and just have white grout. theres tiles in the shower too.....We arent really up for scraping the grout in between. Way Too hard!

i heard that it can be painted: is this true? And How?

  1. I think trying to paint the grout would be very painstaking and look cheap when you got done. Bathrooms and kitchens sell the house.

I recently re-grouted a very large shower in our master bath. The tool works really well. Start working the blade back and forth in the joint and the grout comes right out. Don't force it and it's not that hard to do.

Buy the tool with a triangular shaped carbide head. The blade sets the depth by it's shape.

You might even consider installing a few decorator tiles wjile you are at it for a custom effect. I did and my wife just loves it.

  2. Don't know about painting grout...but it isn't hard to remove and redo another color! There is a grout removing tool you can buy at Home Depot that works really well.

Another suggestion: Do some paint/wallpaper or decorating in shades of gray to make the grout seem like it was planned!

    Hope this helps.

  3. scraping up the grout really isn't that hard. they sell these cool little grout-scraping tools at home depot (might have been lowes) that make it really easy.

  4. Yes, you can paint grout.  The prep process is aggravating to say the least and the painting process to do a decent looking and durable job is tedious to the extreme if you are only painting the grout.

You would be far better off following either of the other two answers given.
