Question:

Painting over the trim in my mobile home?

I want to paint the "wooden" trim that lines the ceiling and doors in my mobile home, but nothing sticks to that stuff! It's not real wood - I'm not even sure what it is. What kind of paint/primer can I use to make flat wall paint stick to it?

  1. Sand it to roughen the surface then use a bonding primer.  Do a test spot before priming the whole thing.  In a hidden spot,  brush on some primer.  Let it dry overnight then stick some scotch tape to it.  Rub it on so its stuck real good then pull it off quickly.  If the primer comes up with the tape,  try a different primer.  If the primer stays,  you are OK to do the whole house.

  2. It's plastic.  Use KILZ, or any "good" primer. Then use any gloss or semi gloss paint you choose.  NOT flat
