  1. Undercoat it, it will save you time in the long run...when your '1-coat' paint doesn't do what it says it will. I had to do 3 coats of 1-coat paint once.

  2. Absolutely don't sand the plasterboard. You will end up with more of a mess than you started with. If there is a gloss paint on the walls, then sanding is a must but you can use a 220 grit sandpaper and do a light sanding to knock down the gloss coating. After that, make sure you the walls are good and clean and any sanding dust is removed. Then put on one coat of a good primer/sealer and let that dry. Then you can paint over that with a good quality wall paint. I recommend using a matte finish or a very low lustre sheen. This will provide good durability and scrubability without having a glossy finish.

  3. If you rub down plaster board you will take the paper surface off and expose the bare plaster which is pourous and can not be painted, if you are not going to plaster it put lining paper on first and then emulsion it then it will look great don't use gloss of any sort as it will encourage condensation and mould to form, good luck with your project hope all goes well

  4. i like to do a coat of paper machet then paint it

  5. gloss paint is generally for timber, steel, exterior, etc, emulsions would be used on ceilings and walls, matt finish for ceilings, you have a choice of finishes for the walls matt, semi sheen, high sheen.if your walls are in good condition use semi sheen if not use matt finish as this hides any imperfections on the walls, apply 3 coats using the first coat as a sealer add water to paint for first coat50/50, lightly sand between coats, remember it,s all in the preparation.good luck

  6. You need to give it a coat of sealant, this is quick and easy with a roller and will soon be absorbed. If you do that then you can paint it, without soaking up all the paint.

Gloss or undercoat would work but you need to make sure that you dont get any water creeping into the plasterboard in any cracks or seams, it will just ruin your lovely home.

  7. Is it fresh plaster board? If i  were you Id put a sealer on it first

    be ok then

  8. Why dont you just get it plastered ?

That will look like c**p otherwise

  9. Don't sand it you will damage it. Use a first coat of emulsion thinned a little with water as this soaks in well and bonds with the board. then use matt emulsion of the colour you choose. Matt emulsion hides defects better than any other paint. Gloss shows up the slightest imperfection.
