So I am getting ready to paint my sons nursery and was wanting to do the chocolate and blue color scheme. I wanted to do polka dots, some overlapping each other maybe, but does anyone know any techniques or a cheap way to do this -I dont want decals or stickers I want to paint the polka dots. Can you use acrylic paint on top of white interior paint?

  1. after your initial paint dries...you can apply tape to border off the edges around the dots so you get a perfect edge...if that's what you want.  You might also be able to find some circular sponges at a craft store that you could just lightly dip into the paint....and if so fill in any cracks.

Acrylic paint is always fine over other paints, especially if they are water based paints.  If you are doing your initial painting in oil based paint...make sure it is FULLY dry first.

You might also try free handing it and get a nice wide brush and practice twirling it to get a nice circular look.
