  1. if you do paint over the tiles make sure all strokes go same way and you can buy a grout pen to go back over them

  2. It looks cr*p and I think you know that, lol.  You could rake out and regrout (waterproof grout) which gives a new lease of life providing the tiles aren't too out of date, even coloured grout.

Retiling over the top can be quick or slow depending on how many tiles need to be cut.  It is the cutting that takes the time.  If you go to screwfix.com you will see for £20 or so (I may be out of date) cheap electric tile cutters (grinding wheel type) which are a joy to use and quick.

    Good luck.

EDIT: Here's a cheap tile cutter for £29.99 - you could sell it afterwards to mitigate your cost.

  3. The paint won't stick to the surface of the tiles. It will soon just  peel up. You also won't get rid of the tile look. It will look like whatever color tile you paint it with that color grout.

You might consider using a leveling compound that tile setters use to smooth out surfaces before tiling them. You can trowel that smooth like concrete, then sand it and paint it when it's dry.

  4. It's still gonna look like tiles unless you put filler in where the grout is to bring it level with the face of the tiles. I wouldn't do it, I reckon it's gonna look awful.
