  1. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

Bright colors like "freshwater" (# 6774), "laughing orange" (# 6895), "refresh" (# 6751) and "daring" (# 6879) are all happy colors.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

  2. when i think of happy colors i usually turn to pastels, like yellow and blue and pink and green, in the lighter shades

  3. It's hard to give you any reliable advice without seeing the walls you want to paint.

If you have photos of the rooms, try posting them in the makeover gallery at http://www.roomvues.com and they will paint your rooms in different colors for you.  It's a great starting point!

  4. bright yellow like sunshine

  5. It greatly depend on the size of the room you want to paint.  Normally if you want to make it look bigger you would paint light color or cool tones.  If you want to make it smaller paint dark or warm tones.

To be on the safe side use pastel colors, and accent a focus wall 2-3 tones darker or contrasting color.  Paint a portion first to see it it is nice to look at, if not you can always paint over it.

  6. im no interior decorator, i have heard from some that you should never paint a room yellow because it triggers unhappy emotions.  Browns and reds are sophiticated colors, but im a pretty bright and perky person so i like purples, teals, and more modern colors.  don't ever paint a room beige, it shows dirt and handprints and it gets depressing after a while.  and pastels seem very "grandma's house-ish" to me...but it's all about your style not mine. you want happy, paint it bright, but it will make the room appear smaller.

*painting the ceiling is a nice touch too*
