Paints nontoxic to rats

Is it possible to paint a cage so it will be nontoxic for rats? My rat has never been locked up and now we want to move him into a bigger cage so we can move him into another room and he always cracks a hissy so I need to know paint which are non toxic incase he decides he doesnt want to be in a cage and starts scraping paint of it. What rust removal procedures are nontoxic to rats also?

    they try to eat it!

    I thought this but no such there's no such thing in the UK
