Hey,

I have just become interested in photography and am interested in modifying some photographs on the computer. I am wondering what is the best programme to use to modify photos. I have heard a few programmes mentioned: Paintshop Pro, Photoshop and a couple of others. Would you guys please recommend the best ones to me?

Thanks.

  1. I like to support the underdog, so I started using PSP before JASC was bought out by Corel. I'm now up to PSP X2, and it has always done fine by me. I am not a pro.

Since you're just beginning, either program will probably do much more than you might ever want, but, who knows?

Photoshop is a bit pricey. There is a scaled down version called Photoshop Elements that's more reasonably priced.

Both let you download full versions to try for free.

  2. If you have any interest in going even semi pro or having a professional experience, I would go with Photoshop.  The other programs out there do not have the industry respect.

Plus, Photoshop tutorials are easy to find.  Paintshop Pro and other tutorials are not because... well... nobody really uses anything other than Photoshop.

    Go Photoshop.
