Pakistan's hunt for venues to host Australia ODIs kicks off - Cricket News Update
The Pakistan Cricket Board is looking for a suitable neutral venue to host their home one-day series against Australia later this year, a senior PCB official said on Saturday.
Pakistan is scheduled to host Australia in a five-match One Day International series in mid August this year. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Subhan Ahmed told media reporters that there are three venues under consideration
for the Australia series.
“We are looking out for a suitable venue for the five one-days against Australia as it would be very hot to play in the UAE in mid-August,” said the PCB chief operating officer, Subhan Ahmad on Saturday.
“The three available options are http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and we are looking at these venues,” he added further.
Pakistan has not hosted an international match since the militant attacks on the touring Sri Lanka cricket team in the provincial capital Lahore in March 2009. Eight Pakistanis, including six policemen were killed, while seven Sri Lankan players including
their assistant manager received injuries during those attacks.
Since then, the Pakistan cricket team has been forced to play its home series at the neutral venues of England, United Arab Emirates, England and New Zealand. In the wake of the 2009 attacks on the Sri Lankan team, Pakistan also lost its rights to host the
