Pakistan Cricket Board Wants Waqar Younis to be Back in Pakistan
In the latest development regarding the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 fiasco, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked Waqar to return to Pakistan from Ireland.
Waqar, who lives in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 with his wife and kids, had earlier planned to return home to take care of his ill wife but now the PCB has instructed him to return to Pakistan to officially record his statement regarding the incident between him and Afridi
during the one-day series in the West Indies.
According to insiders, team manager Intikhab Alam has already sent a preliminary report on Afridi to the PCB officials in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
As of now, the PCB has suspended the former one-day skipper’s Central Contract, after he announced retirement from international cricket on Monday. Afridi, who expressed his disappointment over the behaviour of the PCB officials, decided to turn his back
on international cricket, however, he clarified that he will still play domestic and county cricket.
Meanwhile, Waqar has kept mum on the issue of Afridi and until now has not given any statement in this regard. According to the PCB policy no team member or official is supposed to give any statements to the media without the exclusive consent from the PCB.
The main reason for Afridi’s sacking is also believed to be his outspoken interview in the media where without taking the PCB into confidence, revealed that he had developed differences with the touring team management during the West Indies series on team
selection issues.
On the other hand, Waqar expressed his satisfaction over his team’s performance in the West Indies and then in Ireland where an Afridi-less squad defeated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 in the two-match one-day series in Ireland.
“Coming straight from the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 to such cold weather, it is never easy to change suddenly, with so little time, but the boys did a wonderful job and stuck to their task to the end of this last game,” Younis added.
The former fast bowler further said, “We are all looking forward to the rest which will do wonders for us, because we have had eight months on the road, then we will be ready to pick it up again against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and England.”
