Pakistan Cricket Board avoids onus for Mohammad Amir playing in Surrey Cricket League

“Cricket’s governing body should now ask the authorities in England over how did Amir went on to play a whole match in spite of being named and banned in spot-fixing”, said a PCB official.

The teenage pacer was seen playing in a junior club in Surrey against St.Lukes. He opened their batting and added a useful innings of 60 runs and also ripped through the opponent’s batting line-up by claiming four wickets for nine. Hence, Amir played a key
role in steering his side to an 81-run victory over St. Lukes.
The banned player’s presence in the ground stunned the opponents, as one of the St.Lukes players, Karl Quinn, said that no one could believe that it was Amir playing on the ground.
Quinn also revealed that the banned player did not stay on the field for a long time.
Addington captain, Ijaz Raja, avoided giving any comment, when he was questioned telephonically about Amir’s participation in the match.
An ICC spokesperson, Colin Gibson, declared that they are investigating the issue and are waiting for further details.

As a result of this corruption, the ICC anti-corruption tribunal, handed Amir a 5-year ban, while the pacer Asif was banned for 7 years, with two years of suspension, and, Butt was handed a ten-year ban with five years of suspension.
As per sanctions imposed on the tainted trio, none of these players can participate in any kind of cricketing activity at any recognized level.
