Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Ejaz Butt, welcomes Sri Lanka's willingness to visit Pakistan
The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ejaz Butt, has accepted the proposal offered by the Sri Lankan Chairman, Somerchandra de Silva. He said that the Sri Lankan team is looking forward to play their next Twenty20 series of 2011 in their neighbouring
country, Pakistan.
The PCB chairman stated that such comments by the Sri Lankan chief are more than welcome. He also exclaimed that it would also help in restoring the lost confidence of international cricket fraternity in playing cricket on Pakistan soil.
The PCB chief also added that Sri Lanka has been a very friendly neighbour and has always stood by Pakistan. By assuring such a deal, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 will boost the hopes of pakitan cricket fans, who are desperate to see their cricket celebrities playing at home.
The international cricket scene of Pakistan, which has vanished since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team, could be revived by visits of high caliber international teams. If top tier teams come and play in Pakistan, the players of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 can feel
optimistic and also gain a source of encouragement. They would also be able to face new challenges with total confidence and concentration.
Butt said, “Pakistani fans are missing the big events of cricket at home and they are waiting for the international teams to visit Pakistan.” He also added that talks are taking place and are still in negotiation with the International Cricket Council (ICC)
task team and other cricket boards to assure the return of international cricket to Pakistan. Hopes are high that this would be happening soon, with teams playing cricket in Pakistan.
The Pakistan team is looking forward to the Sri Lankan visit in October or November of this year to play three Tests, five One-Day Internationals and a Twenty20 match.
Most international cricket teams are feel insecure when visiting and playing cricket in Pakistan after the terror attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009. The Sri Lankan team toured Pakistan in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 2009, as they were scheduled to play Test and One Day International
matches. A terror attack on the Sri Lankan team killed eight policemen, who were protecting the foreign players and seven Sri Lankan players were injured along with their assistant coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Farbrace-c81060. The players including Mahela Jayawardene, Thilan Samaraweera
, Tharanga Paranavithana, Thilina Thushara http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajantha-c42419 Mendis and Kumar Sangakkara, who is now the captain of the team were wounded but had minor injuries.
After this terrible tour of the Sri Lankan team, other teams have stopped visiting Pakistan, and as a result, ICC did not host the world cup in Pakistan because of security concerns. With the situation starting to come back to normal, the Pakistan fans wait
with fervor for the return of cricket to their home pitches.
