Pakistan Cricket Board considers a batting coach within the country
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering appointing a batting coach for the national side, which is currently touring the Caribbean. The coach will not travel with the team on foreign tours though and will help the batsmen, rectifying their errors in
the PCB’s academy.
There has been severe criticism on the board, as the coaching staff with the national team is considered as bowler friendly. Head coach, Waqar Younis, assistant coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380, were all bowlers in their time.
PCB has various players in sight for the job and the biggest candidates are former legends, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zaheer-Abbas-c98435. The latter has shown keen interest in joining the team, but has stated that he hasn’t been contacted by anyone yet.
Zaheer stated that the team needs to improve in all departments of the game. He claimed, “The PCB is working bowlers only and they have produced good bowlers but they should also give attention to the batting and fielding departments in order to lift the
team’s overall performance.”
The Asian Bradman further added, “A team has to lift their performances in all these departments in order to become a strong side. By getting strong in only one department wouldn’t substitute for the other.”
On the other hand, Miandad had refused the offer from PCB to travel alongside the team, but was interested in training the players in the academies.
He claimed that the players in the national side should be prepared for any challenges and they don’t require any coaching. The former batsman also said that he didn’t want to interfere in Waqar’s job.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 went through a terrible time in the past couple of years. The team faced numerous controversies in 2010 and their chances in the ICC World Cup 2011 looked slim.
However, the team improved a lot in a short time and managed to qualify for the semi-final of the Mega Event.
The bowlers did a decent job in the World Cup, but the batsmen were unable to make an impression. None of the players were able to score a century in the tournament and this sparked a lot of criticism on the bowling heavy coaching staff.
