"The itinerary...has been revised and now the Abbottabad match will be played in Islamabad on May 25", said a Pakistan Cricket Board official, while talking to a leading news agency.
The decision was taken after the Pakistan Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, called on PCB http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, on Thursday 19 May, 2011. No official reason was given by the board for rescheduling of the match.
Afghanistan’s national cricket team and Pakistan’s ‘A” team are scheduled to play a three-match One Day International (ODI) series in Pakistan this summer and the opener of the series was scheduled to be hosted in Abbottabad.
The fact that the Taliban leader was killed by US forces in Abbottabad on May 2, 2011, attracted media attention from around the world and raised serious security concerns. Now, PCB officials have decided to relocate the match to its capital city of Islamabad.
