Pakistan Cricket Board offers central contracts to Women Cricketers
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has awarded one-year central contracts to nineteen women cricketers, as an acknowledgment to their achievements in international cricket over the past one year.
This is the first time in the history of Pakistan cricket that women cricketers have been awarded board contracts and this shows Women’s cricket is now being taken more seriously.
The PCB spokesman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nadeem-Sarwar-c78422 said "It now requires full-time commitment and professionalism and there is a need to compensate the players", while talking to the media.
Last year, Pakistan’s women cricketers won the Asian Games Twenty20 title, their first ever international title. Last month the Women in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751.

The central contract have been divided into four categories including A, B, C and D. The Group A players will get a retainer of Rs 50,000 (about US$600) per month. Category B, C and D will be paid Rs 35, 000, Rs 20, 000 and Rs 10, 000 per month respectively.
The remunerations offered to the women are far less than their male counterparts as a Group A male Pakistan cricketer received a retainer of Rs250,000 ($2,950) per month.
However, they say it is an achievement that the women have been at least accepted in the field of sports in a socially conservative society where women in sports have been lacking encouragement and facilities for years.,
