Pakistan Cricket Board publicises vacant Head Coach position – Cricket News Update
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a job advertisement for the head coach of Pakistan national cricket team. PCB appointed a committee to select a head coach, comprising of three former cricketers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Naushad-Ali-Rizvi-c78868.
They also have set a deadline for application submissions. The members of the committee met on September 8, 2011 for the first time to settle on a criterion to choose the head coach amongst the contenders.
According to committee, the advertised position is open for all the candidates whether they are local or foreigners. Former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 has put the committee at liberty to choose the new
head coach for Pakistan.
"The PCB chairman briefed us prior to our meeting and has given us a free hand in the search for the national coach," Alam said. "We definitely will be considering both local and foreign applicants.” The advertisement will be publicized today and the interested
candidates will be given 15 days to submit their applications for the post.
"We will scrutinise and interview the candidates and then the PCB will announce the coach in light of our recommendations. Also, the committee can approach someone on their own if they want to," added Intikhab.
Pakistan's former opening batsman and now commentator, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ramiz-Hasan-Raja-c83872, will also take part in the selection of the next Pakistani head coach by assisting the committee. However, he could not come to the committee’s meeting because he is in Zimbabwe, commentating
during the Pakistan-http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 ODI series.
Moreover, Alam said that all the details of the meeting had been sent to Raja through e-mail.
The three-member committee was formed on August 29, 2011, following Waqar Younis' announcement regarding his retirement as Pakistan coach after the current tour of Zimbabwe.
The members of the committee have different opinions regarding selection of the new coach. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abbas-c41488 and Raja are willing to hire a foreigner coach while Alam is keen to select a local guy for the position.
