Pakistan Cricket Board slams the decision of Dhaka High Court – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed extreme disappointment over the decision of Dhaka High Court regarding the postponement of Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan, which was scheduled to take place later this month.
Historically, Pakistan and Bangladesh have shared brotherly relations in the field of cricket and both the cricket boards have been close to each other. Pakistan supported Bangladesh to get an associate status from the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625)
and also immensely helped the minnows to get Test status in late 1990s.
This is the reason why PCB expected Bangladesh to visit Pakistan in such circumstances when no team is ready to visit the country. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Cricket Board (BCB) had confirmed last week that it is ready to send its team to Pakistan for a couple of international
matches.
However, for the first time in the history of the game, a court intervened in a cricket series and ordered the BCB to not to go ahead with the tour at the present moment.
In a press release issued by PCB on the evening of 19th April, 2012, it has slammed this decision of Dhaka High Court and believes that this decision is not made in good faith. Very strong language has been used in this statement and PCB has made
it clear that the cancellation of this tour is going to hamper the relations between the two boards.
The statement said, "It is astonishing to note that a matter lacking any legal issue has been dragged in the court by petitioners who appear to have vested interest and want to jeopardise Pakistan-Bangladesh cricketing relations. It is extremely disturbing
to note for the PCB and Pakistan cricket fans and world cricketing nations that such an adverse order has been passed to block a bilateral cricket series."
On the other hand, Chairman PCB, Chaudhry Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 has also expressed his disappointment about the postponement of the series and said that it is not the job of the courts to intervene in sporting issues.
"It's shocking for us. This is unexpected because a lot of preparations have been made and courts usually don't come in cricketing matters," Ashraf expressed.
