Pakistan Cricket Board still awaiting a written approval from SLC to sign an MOU for UAE series - Cricket News Update
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still waiting for a written approval from their counterparts in Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC), on the neutral venue series between the cricket teams of both countries, scheduled to be played in the United Arab Emirates, in
October-November this year.
A top PCB official told media reporters that they have discussed the matter with the SLC interim committee on telephone, but they have not yet received a written approval from the SLC higher authorities.
"We explained the situation to them and they had no objection to having the series in the UAE, so, as far as we are concerned it is a go ahead and we have already started preparations for the matches in October-November," said the PCB official while taking
to the media reporters.
Whilst the PCB has started preparations for the matches in UAE, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two boards will be signed only after the island cricket board gives a written approval to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board authorities.
Some confusing statements arose last month, after the newly-appointed SLC interim committee's Chairman, Upali Dharmadasa, said in an interview that they have not yet been informed of venues for the series by the PCB, rather he had come to know about the
venues through a news channel.
PCB officials on the other hand, claimed that they had informed the interim committee about the venues they had finalized with the previous SLC management.
"A PCB delegation has already been to the UAE to inspect the venues, hotels and other arrangements and we are now just waiting to sign the MOU with the Sri Lankans," he said.
The official further added that a lot of things have been cleared up and hoped the MOU will be signed soon. He said that the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 provides Pakistani players with ideal neutral venues for their home matches.
The PCB top official said that UAE has become a virtual second home for PCB and its players and that it is also cost effective for them. SLC had earlier offered PCB to host the series in Sri Lanka, but the later turned down the offer as UAE was offering
them good revenues.
Pakistan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 are scheduled to play three Tests, five One Day Internationals and two T20 matches in UAE later this year.
