http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board surprised over Pakistan's exclusion from the Champions League Twenty20 2011 - Cricket News Update
Pakistan Cricket Board’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malachy-Bernard-Loye-c73963, Ijaz Butt, has once again not come up to his word after the Board did not get any invitation for the third edition of the Champions League Twenty20, scheduled to be held from September to October this year. Last year Butt
claimed that he would not allow Pakistan’s absence from the tournament in the future.
Pakistan’s repeated absence from major leagues has already done http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Young-c98322 players have not had many opportunities to play with world class cricketers from around the world.
"We are surprised the organizers have again not invited us although this time they have even scheduled a qualifying tournament for six teams before the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Main-c73911 competition," added a PCB official
Launched in 2008, the Champions League T20 is an international tournament and a joint venture between the cricket Boards of India, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. For this year’s season, 13 teams are to compete while 6 teams will fight for three open spots through
a qualifying event.
In its inaugural edition, the league was postponed after the unfortunate terrorist attacks that took place in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 in November of 2008. Pakistan was scheduled to participate in the tournament that year.
However, after a political dead-lock between the two countries, India and Pakistan, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 held influence.
In 2010, however, Ijaz Butt, along with the sports minister, Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, ruled out the participation of Pakistani players from the 2011 edition of the IPL and the Champions League.
"We will definitely not send any players for the IPL next time. Would you after this treatment?” said a humiliated Butt.
"This is a conspiracy," he added. "They probably don't want our players from playing in these competitions.''
With such bold announcements made by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 and the sports minister last year, it is suprising why the Pakistani Cricket Board is still expected an invitation for their players to participate in the 2011 Champions League.
