The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken immediate notice of the news segments that revealed the inclusion of spot-fixing tainted fast bowler, Mohammad Amir in a match between Rawalpindi and Army.
Talking on the matter, a source in the PCB said, "The Board has asked for details of the said match from its officials in the Rawalpindi regional cricket academy".
The top priority of the Board would be to first confirm if the match was organized by the PCB's Rawalpindi region or if it was a privately organized event.
"It is not clear as yet whether the match between the Army team and Rawalpindi was organized by the PCB Pindi Regional Academy or was a private fixture", the source added.
Amir, along with batsman Salman Butt and fellow pacer, Mohammad Asif, is facing International Cricket Council's (ICC) suspension from international as well as domestic cricket because of an alleged involvement in spot-fixing during Pakistan's tour of England.
In August, the three players were accused of having links with a bookmaker, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 Majeed, who bribed the bowlers to bowl deliberate no-balls in the Lords Test, against England. The trio was then immediately suspended from cricket events all over the world
by the PCB and ICC.
The accused sportsmen had an ICC hearing regarding the matter, which lasted from the 6th to the 11th of this month, in Doha, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Qatar-c2986. After the hearing, the ICC anti-corruption unit decided to defer the announcement of the verdict till
the 5th of February. Until the verdict is made public, the players are to refrain from taking part in any cricketing event.
According to ICC's rule, any player facing suspension is not allowed to take part in any cricket event or activity organized by his country's Board or any of its affiliated units. Amir's participation in the above mentioned match shows that he violated ICC's
rule, which may land him in more trouble with the PCB and ICC.
When http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sabih-Azhar-c87765, the coach of the PCB academy in Rawalpindi, was asked to comment on the incident, he admitted that Amir, in fact, had participated in the controversial practice match.
"I was not present when this happened, but when I came back to the ground, I came to know he had bowled a few overs for the Army side", Azhar confirmed.
A few months back, PCB barred the trio from using the Board's facilities when it was revealed that Salman Butt was practicing in the National Academy, Lahore. It was made clear to the trio that they were not to use any of PCB's facilities until the outcome
of their trial.
